For more than 27 years, Dawn Newbern has built a creative life around color, imagination, and the beliefthat art should bring joy to the spaces in which we live. Based on St. Simons Island, Georgia, Dawn is a contemporary artist and designer known for her expressiveuse of color, playful sophistication, and distinctive point of view. Working primarily in acrylic and mixedmedia, her paintings range from whimsical florals and coastal subjects to layered abstracts—each carryingthe unmistakable sense of vibrant color and movement that have become signatures of her work. Dawn’s creative world extends well beyond the canvas.  Her original artwork has evolved naturally intofabric, wallpaper, and product design, allowing her patterns, palettes, and imagery to become part ofbeautifully layered interiors and everyday life. Whether she is painting a large-scale canvas, developing atextile pattern, or imagining a new collection, her approach remains wonderfully intuitive: begin with color,trust the process, and create something that makes people feel good. Her work has found its way into homes and collections across the country and abroad, but Dawn remains deeplyconnected to the coastal Georgia community that has inspired so much of her creative journey. She is alsothe founding artist and owner of Julep Gallery on St. Simons Island, where her love of art, interiors, and bringingcreative people together comes to life. At the heart of Dawn’s work is a simple idea: beautiful things can make us happier. She wants herpaintings to feel collected rather than complicated, sophisticated without being serious, and—above all—full of life. Dawn is grateful for the God-given talents that have allowed her to build a life around creativity andbelieves those gifts are meant to be shared with the world.
